Future News and Views - Quake Detection from Orbit, Marsquake update, New Earth Discoveries, Schroom Ologies, Bobby's hot Cold Tips, ChatGPT test, Speeding up the Singularity,

Quaking and shaking before the holidays?  Only up North, but our early warning earthquake detector did wake us up at 2:30 a.m. to let us know to “Drop, Cover, and Hold on!!” Nothing happened, at least in our county. But it did get us thinking about quakes, early detection, and the Insight Lander, our seismometer on Mars, and the massive 4.7 quake it registered before the lander’s batteries died from the Martian dust covering its solar panels.
What new and exciting this week is the rollout of ChatGPT, an AI powered search engine on steroids that just might set the direction for future internet searches and explorations. We and some listeners try some queries, both scientific and poetic, to see how this latest tool performs. We are impressed! One caller is worried that our explorations may speed up the arrival of the mysterious “Singularity.” We, however, are unafraid, as we believe that there is only one oneness.  Enjoy!

Future News & Views - Fusion or Bust, Meteor Showering, Orion's Orphans Lost in Space, Being Beautiful with Lensa AI

Listen Now to Dr. Future Shows 12.13.2022

Fusion Power is the dream of generations, and finally for the first time ever, a team of scientists and engineers Gabrielle gets a makeover from Lensa AIat Lawrence Livermore National Ignition Facility have succeeded in generating more power than what they put into the equation. And now that Artemis is safely back on Earth with the Orion capsule splashing down in the Pacific Ocean, we wonder what happened to the 10 Cubesats launched near the moon. Also this week, we have a report from Gabrielle on the AI known as Lensa. With over 5 millions downloads in one week, this AI makes people look amazing, beautiful, archetypical, in the prime of life. And..is it a Uni or is it a Multiverse? Enjoy!

Interview - Dr. Bruce Damer on the Origins of Life and on new Volcanism Discovery on Mars

Listen Now to Dr. Bruce Damer 12.05.2022

One of our science stories this week is about new discoveries of more recent volcanism on Mars, suggesting that a warmer climate there may have led to the creation of life there. We speak with evolutionary scientist Bruce Damer about the significance of these latest discoveries.  He also brings us up-to-date with his latest work with David Deamer and Francesca Carey, on the introduction of a new concept, ‘urability,’ a property of planets that can support the beginnings of life as we understand it. Bruce also speaks of his origin of life work at the Fly Hot Springs, a place we know, curiously, from visits to Burningman, and how AI can play a role in understanding our biological evolution. Enjoy!

Future News - KSCO as an Eco-station? Artemis Returning, Big Bouncy Bombs, Can Superman Change the Course of Mighty.. Lava Flows?

What if KSCO, beyond being a radio station, also became an Ecostation? What does this mean? Dr. Future outlines this vision at the beginning of the show, prior to Space News and our Hawaiian volcano update, which includes an early experiment (1935) to control the flow of lava flows via the dropping of 600 lbs bombs!
Our caller Jordan reminds us that Superman had the power to “change the course of mighty rivers,” but never demonstrated that super ability on the 1950’s TV show, and only did it once in the thousands of comic book episodes of the Man of Steel. But some good ideas on the re-direction of lava and uses as a seawall in Iceland did come through our callers this week, as did the possibiily of direct dial communication channels with Pele! Now, how does that work, exactly? Enjoy..
“Change the Mighty Lava Flows? I gotta check first with Pele.”

Future News - Hawaii Volcano update, Wasp 39b exoplanet atmosphere revealed, Black Hole Sounds, Organics in Martian Rocks, Iranian Drone Supply Chain, Expanding Bliss Bubbles, ET Minerals,Twitter 2.0

Wow, the Big Island is alive with two active volcanoes right now, the first time in 38 years! Check our links for a live feed of this amazing event. And Artemis is now in orbit around the moon, and has launched the 10 cubesats it carried there. A couple of them aren’t working properly, but hey, 8 out of 10 ain’t bad!  Also new minerals have been discovered on a meteorite, giving us tantalizing new info on the solar system’s formation. And if you’ve ever wanted to hear a black hole…tune in! Enjoy.
