88 Future Now Podcast - StarShip Delivers, Autonomous in LA LA Land, Student Rodent Drivers, Seeing through the Smoke, Predictive Policing and Body Cams, Tired of Needles? Try Leach Tech..

Wouldn’t you know, Starship 6 takes off during our show, so naturally it’s in our lineup today! And heads up if Starship 6 successfully launches to space from its Texas pad.you are looking for an inexpensive DIY way of running your home on solar!  Waymo is in the news with LA now being served by their autonomous robot taxis! Its nice to be driven about, but this week we also pay homage to those who enjoy the act of driving, which, surprisingly,  goes beyond our species; it turns out rodents enjoy driving as well! And then there is the turtle on a skateboard..
And who says our upcoming humanoid robots need exactly the same senses as us, especially when they can have Pano Radar, enabling them to see clearly through smoke, fire, and fog. If one day my robot needs to rescue me from a wildfire, I’d want hir to see clearly what she is doing!
The ethics of predictive policing are up again, this time in the context ofTurns out rodents like to drive! photo-Greg Panos analyzing data from thousands of police bodycams.  The data may help us predict who and where crime may occur, but at what cost to our privacy?  And do you have a fear of needles?
Or how about some AI headphones that can put you in a sound bubble, enhancing what you want to hear around you, excluding what you don’t?
There’s a new blood draw in town, more like a leech than a mosquito in its approach to collecting our precious bodily fluids! It works great, and kinda ‘sucks.’ Enjoy..

Future News - Wild Flowers Now, Psychedelic Science 2017 Review, Free Autocar rides with Waymo, Uber's Flying Car Conference, Plastic Munching Catepillar, Puzzling Neg Mass Liquid, Boeing's Starliner, VR for Head Transplantees

Listen Now to Future News 4.25.2017

If you are in NorCal, it’s a great time to get out and smell the flowers, as spring as sprung in these green hills! And if you live in Phoenix, AZ, you can now get free rides to the flower zones via Google’s Waymo autonomous car fleet of over 500 robot minivans. They are now in a beta test program, for those of you who feel brave!  Closer to home, we five our report of the MAPS conference, “Pychedelic Science 2017,” an amazing event, as such research comes out of the dark ages and into the light of scientific scrutiny.

We found a plastic munching catepillar most fascinating, and may solve one of our planet’s big problems, plastic pollution. And on the edge of reality itself, you’ll enjoy our discussion of the ‘silly putty’ nature of the aging process, and a new substance that comes towards you as it is pushed..just weird..enjoy!

Future News - Tech Trump Summit, Waymo Google Cars, Chevy Bolts Delivered, AI that Searches the Web, Out of the Body Odyssey of Colonel Terry

Listen Now to Future News 12.13.2016

Lots of interest from our listeners today on electric vs hydrogen cars, after Chevy’s first deliveries of their The new all electric 2017 Chevy Boltall electric Bolt to the Bay Area.  Fascinating topic with one listener sending us a link on a relatively obscure video on Hydrogen powered cars (Thanks Shawn!).

In the second hour we play a statement from Elon Musk about electric vs hydrogen cars, and discuss a new AI that learns by surfing the web. This triggers a conversation on the nature consciousness itself with caller Colonel Terry, who shares a profound near death experience and why he chose to come back.

Enjoy!
